Our community partners are vital to TAPS Academy's mission. From law enforcement to educational institutions, each brings expertise and resources crucial for empowering youth.
Mayor’s Office of Gang Prevention and Intervention
For over three years, TAPS Academy has proudly collaborated with the Mayor’s Office of Gang Prevention and Intervention, delivering impactful presentations on gang prevention and gun violence. Our partnership empowers youth with knowledge and alternatives to violence, fostering a safer and more hopeful future.
Houston Police Department
TAPS Academy works closely with the Houston Police Department, where many officers step into the role of TAPS Officers at schools in the Houston Independent School District. This partnership brings real-world insights and mentorship into our classrooms.
Boys and Girls Club
TAPS Academy partners with the Boys and Girls Club to provide TAPS afterschool programming throughout the semester.
University of Houston
TAPS Academy partners with the University of Houston to run the Summer Youth Leadership Institute, a 3-week educational summer program where students earn 1 high school credit while building their leadership skills.
Texas City Police Department
Texas City Police Officers partner with TAPS Academy to teach TAPS programming.
Harris County Juvenile Probation
TAPS Academy provides programming to the youth within the Harris Juvenile facilities. Our programs aim to offer hope, guidance, and a path to a better future.
Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation
TAPS Academy provides programming to the youth within the Fort Bend County Juvenile facilities.
Columbus Police Department
Since 2015, the CPD partnered with TAPS Academy, with over 25 officers providing TAPS Academy programming.
Upper Darby Police Department
The UDPD has been hosting TAPS Academy since 2020 and has provided 9 officers to present TAPS Academy programming.
Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department
The Washington MPD has been providing police officers for TAPS Academy since 2023 and has provided 6 police officers to present TAPS Academy programming.
University of Lynchburg
The U of L has provided officers to present the TAPS Academy programming since 2023.
The City of Orangeburg, South Carolina
Orangeburg, South Carolina has sponsored TAPS Academy programming since 2023. Ms. Angela Terry is the Site Leader for TAPS Academy programming in Orangeburg.
Grambling State University
GSU is the site of the TAPS Academy Collegiate program, which began in 2023 and is the first TAPS Academy program at the collegiate level in the nation.
Grambling Police Department
The GPD has provided 3 Officers to present TAPS Academy programming since 2021.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
The LVMPD has provided over 20 police officers to present TAPS Academy programming since 2021.
My Brother’s Keeper
MBK is a national non-profit organization with the mission to address persistent opportunity gaps for young men and boys of color.
Emergency Aid Coalition (EAC)
TAPS Academy has partnered with the Emergency Aid Coalition by allowing our students to complete their Service-Learning projects at their location during our Spring, Summer and Fall programming.
Star of Hope
TAPS Academy has partnered with Star of Hope for our Ambassadors to complete a Service-Learning project in which they had the opportunity to serve and prep food for the families residing at their Women and Children center as well donating care packages to both of their facilities.
Homeless Outreach Team (HOT)
TAPS Academy has partnered with the Homeless Outreach Team to educate our students at our Summer Youth Leadership Institute about the homeless community/population in Houston and how our youth can help this underserved population.
Chase Bank
TAPS Academy partnered with Chase bank for our Summer Youth Leadership Institute, in which they taught our students about youth bank accounts and finances and the importance of having a Savings account.
HPD K-9 Unit
TAPS Academy partnered with HPD’s K-9 Unit for students to see some demonstrations of the K-9's abilities and hear stories from their handlers on the important role that their division play when it comes to solving crime.
Mounted Patrol
TAPS Academy partnered with Mounted Patrol for our Summer Youth Leadership Institute to be exposed to the different divisions of the Houston Police Department.
Metro PD
TAPS Academy partnered with Metro PD for our Summer Youth Leadership Institute to educate our students on how the Metro is kept safe and how to use the Metro. They have also been vendors at our Community Expos.
Beall Village
TAPS Academy partnered with Beall Village for our Summer Youth Leadership Institute, in which our students created care packages and had lunch with the elderly residents.
Toastmasters
TAPS Academy partnered with Toastmasters to train the TAPS staff and provide sessions for our students who attend the Summer Youth Leadership institute to improve presentation and public speaking skills.
Hope Farms
TAPS Academy partnered with Hope Farms for our Summer Youth Leadership Institute in which our students got the opportunity to work on their farm to harvest vegetables and make a pizza from natural ingredients.
Houston ISD Police Department
TAPS Academy has partnered with the HISD PD for years, several Officers serve as instructors for different Houston Independent School District schools as well as representatives from mid management.
National Youth Leadership Council
TAPS Academy has presented at the NYLC Service-Learning Conference, and its ambassadors have secured a grant through NYLC.
University of Houston - Clear Lake
TAPS Academy hosts events and offers educational programming at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
